Ricoh Imaging is pleased to announce the new Pentax WG-1000 All-WeatherCompact Camera. The WG-1000 is designed for casual underwater photography to adepth of 49.2 feet (15 meters) for up to one hour of continuous operation. Lightweight yet rugged, it is also well suited for a range of land-basedactivities - it is dustproof against dirt and stains and shockproof against afall from a height of 6.5 feet (2 meters). The WG-1000 features a 4x opticalzoom lens with a focal-length coverage from 4.9 mm to 19.6mm (equivalent toapproximately 27mm to 108mm in the 35mm format). When coupled with its DigitalZoom function, the camera`s zoom range can be extended by approximately 24times for high-magnification zoom photography. Its back-illuminated, 16.35-megapixel CMOS image sensor delivers sharp, clear, high-resolutionimages, even at a super-high sensitivity of ISO 3200. Seven image capture modesand a variety of color modes enable users to enhance their images based ontheir shooting environment and add their aesthetic to the finished photos. Available in a Olive finish, the WG-1000 comes with a carabiner strap and aprotector jacket, which helps protect the camera body from scratches. Solid All-Weather Body for Protection against Dust and WaterThe WG-1000 features a dependable all-weather body, designed to be waterproofdown to a depth of 49.2 feet (15 meters) for up to one hour of continuousoperation, dustproof against dirt and stains, and shockproof against a fallfrom a height of 6.5 feet (two meters). It can be used for a wide range ofscenes and activities, even in harsh, demanding conditions. The WG-1000 can besterilized with solutions containing ethanol, sodium hypochlorite (approved asa disinfectant of food additives), or chlorine dioxide, so it can be safelyused at medical facilities and worksites. Choice of Seven Capture ModesThe WG-1000 provides a choice of seven distinctive capture modes, includingAuto Mode, which automatically detects a given scene or subject and selects themost appropriate shooting mode, Manual Mode, which lets the user manuallyselect the desired aperture, shutter speed, and ISO sensitivity, UnderwaterMode, which reproduces true-to-life colors of the underwater world by reducingthe bluish color cast, and Scene Mode, which lets the user select the desiredscene mode from 18 different options. Selection of Color Modes for ‘Personalizing` Captured ImagesThe WG-1000 provides 20 color modes to add the desired finishing touch tocaptured images. In addition to the conventional Black and White and Sepiamodes, it also features more creative options - Japan Style, which enhancesbluish hues, Italian Style, which enhances greenish hues, French Style, whichenhances reddish hues, Negative, which creates a finishing touch resemblingthat of negative film before a positive is made, and Sketch, which adds avisual effect resembling that of a drawing.
