The cob or canocchia (Squilla mantis) is a crustacean of the Squillidae family that can reach a maximum length of 20 cm. In common language, it is sometimes called "sea cicada", a term also used for Scyllarus arctus, a species belonging to a different family and order with which it should not be confused. The Pannocchia has meats of considerable value, much appreciated, especially in the autumn-winter period. The nutritional value of this species is good for its protein intake, carbohydrates and mineral salts. Hailing from the Mediterranean Sea, they are ideal to star in your favourite seafood recipes.
